2026 General Assembly

Each person wishing to participate virtually in the General Assembly must register individually.

Registration Deadline: Wednesday, January 21, 2026 / [Registration Link]

Rationale: It is the desire of the leadership team of St. Nicholas Orthodox Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan to provide an opportunity for all of its members to engage in the full life of the church. We recognize that the ultimate way for our members to engage is by physically attending services, Orthodox Education classes, and meetings. However, situations arise that prevent members from physically attending, making virtual attendance a vital way to stay connected to the church community.

Protocol for virtual participation:

  • Each individual participant must complete the registration form by the deadline
  • The church will email materials to each participant (login information, booklet etc.)
  • The virtual sergeant-of-arms will vet each registrant and only allow voting members to remain on the Zoom call.
  • Participants must login to the meeting 15 prior to the start of the meeting. This is required for an accurate attendance number for the Parliamentarian.
  • Participants must update their screen name to read as follows: Last name, First name.
  • Participants must be visibly present on their device’s screen.
  • The church will post the link for Parish Council Nominee voting and each eligible member participant will have 10 minutes to cast his/her vote.
  • The church cannot provide technology assistance, so we encourage each virtual attendee to be prepared with the necessary Zoom navigation.

Voting Membership:
Article III Section 1A Church Constitution:

The Voting Members shall be a person eighteen (18) years of age or over, regardless of sex, who has been baptized and accepted in the membership of the Holy Orthodox Church according to his teachings, who accepts, professes and practices its faith and discipline, attends Sunday Services and who subscribes to the temporal maintenance of this Church through regular financial support during the preceding six (6) months prior to a meeting of the Church where voting takes place.
